Feb. 4 - Feb. 7

The weather can't make up it's mind, it's warm then it's cold, it's slush then it's snow and then that pesky Punxsutawney Phil came out of his burrow earlier this week and had the audacity to tell us that there will be 6 more weeks of winter.....when did we start listening to groundhogs? The temps are to be above freezing this weekend - perfect weather to get out there and have some fun.


THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4


Facebook Find - Head over to Cocktail from 7-9PM when local artist Kristin Bruni will present her 'mirror image photography' a process she has developed that involves the melding of organic subject materials with reflections, rotations and geometric patters. About Face Theater presents 'What Once We Felt' at the Hoover-Leppen Auditorium at the Center on Halsted now through March 6. The play is described as a dismal future where an author has to fight to have her novel printed, and it's the last novel. Tix are $25 and can be purchased online.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5


Katie Todd, Jen Porter and The Dylan Rice Band will take the stage at Jackhammer at 9PM for this months edition of The Flesh Hungry Dog Show brought to you by Gary Airdale. Tix are $10 at the door or online.


Head over to Charlie's Chicago as a bunch of hot cowboys vie for the title of Charlie's Chicago Man of the Month. You'll support a great charity, ILGRA, and dance your ass off while you're at it. The fun starts at 10PM.


Head north to Andersonville for a screening of 'Burnt Money' during part of Reelings Monthly Screening Series. 'A sexy, intense crime thriller from Argentina, BURNT MONEY has been compared to the blockbuster hits OCEANS ELEVEN and RESERVOIR DOGS and even hailed as a gay BONNIE & CLYDE.' The fun starts at 8PM


SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6


Want to see someone working for their lives? Head over to the Lakeshore Theater for their 'Open Mic Casting Call' They'll be auditioning performers and making booking decisions for shows at the theater. There's no cover and $2PBR cans will put you in the right mood. Head over and check it out, who knows who you'll get to see.


Burlesque is EVERYWHERE! Head to the Viaduct Theater tonight for A&M Burlesque featuring seven sultry ladies that are sure to entertain you. Doors open at 9:30, Tix are $15 and can be purchased online, 21+.


Cake Chicago has returned! Head to The Red Line Tap - 7006 N Glenwood - for some great music and entertainment. Check out Ripley Caine (9PM), Lojo Russo (10PM), Ian Wilson (11PM). Tix are $5 at the door.


SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7


Show Us Your Love, is a one-act musical revue that will hit the stage at Mary's Attic every Sunday in February at 7:30PM 'SHOW US YOUR LOVE celebrates love and relationships, featuring both comic and dramatic selections from some of Broadway and Off-Broadway's very best' Tickets are $15-25 with a special couples package on Valentines Day for $79. My roommate tells me that the Super Bowl is this evening, I don't know about these things so fortunately he's here to help me through. If you're looking to watch the game with some friends, why not head over to CREW in Uptown, Hydrate in Boystown or North End.


Have you got a thing for Chekov? The Gene Siskel Film Center kicks off it's 'Celebrating Chekov' program with a screening of 1970 USSR classic Uncle Vanya, in Russian with English subtitles.
